08/04/17 - Day 123 - Denver, CO - Stranahans Distillery
My friend and I visited a local whiskey distillery in just south of downtown. Stranahan's Colorado Whiskey is a micro-distillery that began operation in 2004. Their primary product is a 94 proof whiskey. It's a small operation - they bottle by hand and each label includes a hand written note on it, usually something silly like a drinking pun or positive slogan. Some bottling is done by volunteers who are paid for their labor with a bottle of whiskey. It sounded to me like a lot of work for a 750ml bottle of liquor but apparently there's a backlog of 1000's waiting to do it.
The tour included a few product samples and some kitschy photo opportunities.

The guide was funny and the tour well done. The whiskey was fine but not discernibly different from and I've had previously. We had a cocktail which was well made but didn't go in for one of the highly priced bottles. Worth the visit.
